Re: Vision Statement for Del Monte Forest

Dear Mr. Stearn:

Attached is the Vision Statement for Del Monte Forest for your consideration in the ongoing process of revising and updating the Monterey County General Plan.

The Vision Statement was approved yesterday, August 16, 2001, at a regular meeting of the committee. Prior to the committe's approval, community input was sought and obtained, principally from the Del Monte Forest Property Owners, the Forest Foundation, the Pebble Beach Company, and the Pebble Beach Community Services District. Two public hearings were conducted, with active and spirited participation and constructive criticism from numerous sources.

The attached statement incorporates some of the language suggested by the organizations named above, as well as other sources, but, in saying this, no implication of endorsement or approval of the statement by those organizations is intended.

The statement, as submitted in the attachment, represents a conscious and sincere effort by the committee to capture the values and goals for Del Monte Forest as enhoined by your June 27 guidelines.

Sincerely yours,
/s/
Paul R. De Lay, Chair
